Science Projects at GO!

Our High School Equivalency teacher, Ms. Peggy makes sure to involve students in experimentation, demonstration, and presentation as they prepare to take the Science portion of the TASC exam.

“Science projects are important because students love them! And when a student is actively involved in a project, she learns and retains more,” she says.

This week at GO students made plant cells at home in order to learn the different organelles and structures in cells.

And in the Bacteria are Everywhere activity, the each group is testing three samples: unwashed hand, washed hand, and sanitized hand– to see if bacteria will grow. Students hypothesize what the results will be, and if hand sanitizer really does kill 99.99% of all bacteria.

Check out the groups demonstrating their cell model projects in the photos below!
