GO co-sponsors 2nd Annual Bronx Adult Literacy

This Friday, March 10, 8:30 am – 11:30 am: Join us for the second-ever Bronx Adult Literacy Gathering in The Savoy Room at Hostos Community College.

We’re thrilled to be working with our partners at Eastside House Settlement, CUNY Prep, and Center for Bronx Nonprofits to bring you this rich community of educators, leaders, organizations, and students—all of whom have been championing innovation around high school equivalency and education in the community.

Some speakers and workshoppers include Eastside House’s Dontai Nottingham; CUNY Prep’s Jenny Ristenbatt; Literacy Assistance Center’s Ira Yankwitt; Center for an Urban Future’s Tom Hilliard; and three of our very own: Derrian Robinson, Zaukema Blanding, and Tani Santiago.

On the docket:

-How our students in the Bronx statewide are doing with high school equivalency testing and what we ALL can do to support our students and instructors as they prepare for the exam

-How organizations in the Bronx and elsewhere are leading innovation in this field every day while building capacity and emotional engagement

-What policies and changes can we make now to better support our students and instructors in the long-term?

This gathering is for students, teachers, organizations providing adult literacy opportunities, funders, policy makers, elected officials, and all people interested in strengthening the workforce-related and social fabric of the Bronx. We hope to see all of you there on Friday!
